Trail Running App

The trail running app that trains the climb, not just the kilometers

PRYSM reads the elevation density of your race and builds a plan on the terrain it actually demands. Vert, descent, and recovery are planned together, and the whole block rewrites itself after every run.

A flat kilometer and a mountain kilometer are not the same kilometer.

Generic running apps count distance and pace. On trail, those two numbers hide almost everything that matters: how much you climb, how steeply, how long you spend on your feet, and how much your quads absorb on the way down. PRYSM measures the vertical demand of your race first, then treats terrain as something to build toward week by week.

How the trail engine works

01

Enter your race, with its vert

Distance and elevation gain, not distance alone. A 30 km race with 500 m of climb and a 30 km race with 1800 m are two different sports, and Prysm plans them differently.

02

Your terrain gets periodized

The app derives your race's vertical density in metres of climb per kilometer, then builds toward it. Base weeks stay gentler underfoot, peak weeks match the profile you will race on.

03

Every run feeds the next week

Log a session in one tap. The engine re-reads your load, your recovery and your remaining weeks, then rewrites what comes next. No manual replanning.

Four terrain bands, one per level of vertical demand

Your race lands in a band based on how many metres of climb it carries per kilometer. Your training climbs toward that band and stops there.

Flat

Road-like profiles. Climbing is incidental and pace carries the session.

Rolling

Constant undulation. Rhythm and repeated short climbs decide the day.

Hilly

Classic mountain trail. Sustained ascents and real descent load.

Mountainous

Long alpine climbs. Time on feet, hiking economy and eccentric tolerance.

What a trail-native app does differently

Elevation is a training variable, not a note

Most running apps treat a hill as a slower kilometer. Prysm classifies terrain into flat, rolling, hilly and mountainous bands, and prescribes the band each session should be run on.

Specificity that arrives on time

Climbing volume rises across the block and is capped at your race's own demand. You get progressively more mountain as the race approaches, and never more than the race itself will ask.

Descent is trained, not survived

Downhill damage decides more trail races than climbing does. When your course carries real descent, the app schedules eccentric work far enough from your key session to keep it clean.

The week bends around your life

Miss a session, travel, or arrive at Sunday flat. The plan rebuilds itself inside guardrails: hard days keep their spacing, and load never jumps to make up for lost time.

Trail running app questions

What trail runners ask before switching from a road-first app.

Vertical gain is a first-class input. Prysm converts your race profile into a terrain target per week and picks sessions that match it. A road-first app only sees your distance and pace, so it prepares you for a flatter race than the one you signed up for.

Train for the profile you actually signed up for.
